The Guy Fox Philosophy
Guy Fox is a cartoon fox, with a simple philosophy:  "You can learn ANYTHING you want to." We believe education is a life-long endeavour, provided by the individual to the individual; we believe that a love of learning, intellectual curiosity, and resourcefulness are integral to becoming a successful citizen. We believe children want to learn; they want to achieve and to develop the skills which will empower them to become productive, proactive adults. We believe children want to improve the world around them and to take an active role in shaping that world. We believe children deserve to have their opinions heard and put into action. We believe ALL children thrive in a learning environment supported by committed professionals, using professional-quality materials, tools and resources.

Our Educational Workshops
We create innovative activities and publications FOR children WITH children in London. Illustrated magazines, songs and raps, maps, posters, compact discs, interactive web sites – we're always developing new ideas. And we're always looking for children to help us with our next project! Plus, we have LOADS of fun in the process!

How We Are Funded
Guy Fox History Project does not receive government or statutory funding, so we rely on corporate partnerships, income that we generate from the sales of our maps and books, and donations from people who believe in what we do. Learn more about the ways YOU (or your company) can support our work.

We are celebrating 800 years since Magna Carta was sealed by King John at Runnymede. 'How the World REALLY Works: The Economy' • December 2011 to June 2014
In this project (the 5th in our 'How the World REALLY Works' series), we partnered with children from Brook Community Primary School and volunteers from UBS to create a children's guide to the Economy. The children visited Borough Market where they learned about cheese production at Neal's Yard Dairy, and they visited the Bank of England where they were treated to a guided visit and a special presentation by two of the Bank's economists.

'How the World REALLY Works: The Economy' is two books in one, featuring an explanation of Economic concepts and a description of the way the Economy works (which is useful for children and adults alike!).

'World ABCs with Guy Fox' • July 2011 to March 2012
Question: What can you cover with 250 children and 250 volunteers?
Answer: The entire world!

Our biggest project ever! We worked with an army of primary school children and volunteers; each child was partnered with a volunteer, and, together, they became the 'ambassadors' for a sovereign nation. The ambassadors learned all about that nation, created illustrations of national landmarks, people and animals (which are featured in the book) and made educational presentations about their countries.

'World ABCs with Guy Fox' is a 120-page compendium (a Guy Fox-o-pedia if you will) of facts and figures about the amazing world in which we live!

Available from our shop on Amazon.co.uk.

We teamed up with Catlin Underwriters and secondary students at St Paul's Cross Way School to explore the life and work of Michael Faraday, the world's greatest experimental scientist.

With support from the Royal Institution, students presented their lectures in the very place that Michael Faraday, Humphrey Davis and other scientists had lectured to sell-out crowds in the 18th century.

'How the World REALLY Works: Insurance at Lloyd's of London' • February to June 2010
We teamed up with the lovely people at Lloyd's of London insurance market to create the second book in the 'How the World REALLY Works' series. Working with Christchurch Primary School in Brick Lane, we really pushed the boat out (if you'll pardon the pun); we turned the classroom into a 17th century coffee shop and students had to decide which ship cargos to underwrite. They negotiated premiums with the volunteers and when they discovered the fate of their ships, they either rejoiced or paid out on the claim. This and other innovative educational activities really brought the insurance market to life in the classroom.

'How the World REALLY Works: Investment Banking' • March to November 2009
This was the project that got our 'How the World REALLY Works' idea off the ground! We'd had this idea as far back as 2005, to teach children about hard-to-understand industries and financial topics, and when the UBS Community Affairs Committee agreed to fund the project, we were over the moon.

'Happy Birthday, Big Ben!' • April 2008 to April 2009
We conducted this project to celebrate the 150th birthday of London's best-loved landmark. We worked with children from Camberwell, exploring the history and engineering of the clocktower, the Great Clock and the massive bell that we all know and love. The children visited Big Ben to hear him strike noon and they were given special access to the London Metropolitan Archives.

The project resulted in a series of educational resources: a booklet (illustrated by the children), an educator's kit, a 'Happy Birthday Big Ben' poster, a 'How to Make a Bell' poster and two videos that are available on the Guy Fox YouTube Channel.

Awards

Lord Mayor's Dragon Award - Community Partner Winner 2012
We were honoured to win a Dragon Award for our partnership with UBS, which, as of 2012, had impacted 60,000 children across the UK and around the world. (And the great news is, we're still working together!)

The Guardian Charity Award - 2004
Winning the Guardian Charity Award was an 'honourtunity'. It made a huge impact on our organisation, raising our profile and giving us a bit of capital to start our subsidiary company, Guy Fox Limited. We invested the award money in our first London Children's Map, which has sold over 200,000 units since its launch in 2006 and has provided a source of income to support our work.
